The most over-used and worst phrase ever spoken by followers of Christ.
Within the church, we have this bad habit of jumping the gun and wanting to do things before our time because it’s our passion. We have this bad habit of wanting to do things and not wanting to put in all the time, effort & man power required to do those things with excellence.
To make ourselves feel better, we say, “Well, it’s not the best, but it’s good enough.”
It’s like nails on a chalkboard.
Everything we do as Christ followers is a reflection of our savior and we should not be able to rest until everything is done the way it SHOULD be done. The way that will bring all honor and praise to the one who saved us.
When things are out of our reach and beyond our human capability, that’s when He’s glorified. That’s when we’re living as we should be living. Out of ourselves and 100% reliant on Him.
As we enter this weekend and into our Sunday or Saturday night services, lets remember it’s not about us, it’s about the lost and them seeing the power of the cross alive in us and bringing all glory to the Savior who died on that cross to give us life.
Let’s not leave things at, “good enough.”
Let’s fight for excellence.
Whether you empty the trash, work in the nursery, preach, lead worship…whether you’re the CEO or a stay at home mom/dad…
Fight for excellence.
Do it all to the best of your ability.
And when you’ve tapped out on that, rely on Christ for the rest.
Allow God to work in and through you to shape and train the dragon slayer within you.
“Servants, do what you’re told by your earthly masters. And don’t just do the minimum that will get you by. Do your best. Work from the heart for your real Master, for God, confident that you’ll get paid in full when you come into your inheritance. Keep in mind always that the ultimate Master you’re serving is Christ. The sullen servant who does shoddy work will be held responsible. Being a follower of Jesus doesn’t cover up bad work.”
